Evaluations & Testing in Michigan
Specific, General & Comprehensive Assessments
Many people think about evaluations, testing, or assessments as the answer to the question, “What’s wrong with me?” We want you to know that, while evaluations are necessary to determine the presence and severity of conditions like developmental delays or psychological disorders, testing also gives you the necessary information to unlock your strengths and maximize skills. For this reason, we recommend testing for all of our clients. A basic battery of tests can help us create a complete picture of who you are and how we can best help you in achieving your goals. Starting from the baseline provided by standardized evaluations, we can also easily measure your continued progress.
Types of Evaluations
Our clinicians are happy to offer a range of evaluations, and we can customize your assessment plan to get you the answers you’re looking for about yourself or your child. You can learn more about each of the evaluation services we offer below.
Speech аnd Language Evаluаtіоnѕ
During a speech and language evaluation, we'll assess rесерtіvе and еxрrеѕѕіvе lаnguаgе, аrtісulаtіоn, bаѕіс соnсерtѕ, vocabulary, аnd pragmatic lаnguаgе skills. Depending on the results of our evaluations, we can offer a full range of speech and language therapy options right here in our office.
Oссuраtіоnаl Thеrару Evaluations
Occupational therapy evaluations allow us to assess sensory processing, and fine motor skills as well as visual, motor, and perceptual skills. Following your assessment, we can partner with you to create an occupational therapy plan to help you more comfortably, safely, and adequately perform everyday tasks.
Physical Thеrару Evаluаtіоnѕ
The physical therapy evaluation involves assessing a range of abilities, including gross motor skills, ambulation, endurance, reflexes, and coordination. Based on our findings, the Learning Dreams team can work with you to create an ongoing physical therapy plan to help you achieve your mobility and dexterity goals.
Eduсаtіоnаl Evаluаtіоnѕ
This comprehensive evaluation can help us develop a clear picture of a student’s current academic abilities compared with standardized norms. From the results of these evaluations, we can determine whether more advanced testing for conditions like specific learning disabilities (SLD) or dyslexia are necessary. Our team members can also make recommendations, provide reporting, and serve as advocates for you or your child within school systems to ensure students receive appropriate accommodation. We can also recommend tutoring and other interventions in our office to help students thrive in academic settings.
Testing for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Struggling to pay attention, sit still, focus, or remember details may sound like a minor inconvenience, but for those who are diagnosed with ADHD, chronic struggles with disordered attention can make education, career, and social interactions difficult or impossible. With a clear diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan from Learning Dreams, those with ADHD can look forward to a more successful future.
Testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
There is a lot of information about ASD floating around online. If you’ve read or heard something that makes you fearful of seeking diagnosis for yourself or your child, we hope you’ll consider talking to our team.
